How To Get The Cristiano Ronaldo Side Part Haircut or High Fade

    by Zheelana Cottam

You don’t have to be a football fan to know the name Cristiano Ronaldo. Ask any Tom, Dick, or Funky Fella you come across and there is a big chance that they have some idea who he is. I suppose that’s what comes from being one of the most prolific football players in the world - on par with Lionel Messi. Ronaldo has played in 1097 matches and in that time has scored 801 strikes! That’s madness.

Not only is Ronaldo known for being a skillful striker with plenty of personality, but he is also somewhat of a trend setter when it comes to hair. Men all around the world have been obsessed with Ronaldo’s hair transformations since he signed up with Manchester United in 2003 and it’s easy to see why. Each look he pulls off is stylish, long lasting, and hassle-free. Perfect.

Haircut 1: The Undercut Comb over

For a footballer it is important that you go for a hairstyle that has the ability to hold up throughout an entire 90-minute football match and Ronaldo has always understood that assignment. To create this same manageable look, book a trip to the barbers and ask for a shaved undercut on the sides and back. Keep the hair on top about medium length with a soft scissor cut and don’t forget to ask for that sharp hard part on a slight angle (show picture above for reference).

You can always go that extra step and in a true Ronaldo fashion ask your barber to cut in some funky designs or lines into your undercut. The football star has opted for double straight lines, squares and even a zig-zag pattern in the past. So, don’t be afraid to go a bit out there! Hair is all about expression, after all. (See image below for some inspiration).

    • To pre-style your new look you should start with hair wax. Scoop some of our NO GUNK Styling Funk between your fingertips and apply to your hair from root to tip. This is best done after hopping out of the shower on towel dried hair.
    • Now grab a hairdryer and start blow drying. Whilst you are doing this use a comb to angle and comb your hair up and over to your desired side.
    • Then to ensure that wet finish, and add some extra hold to your hair, apply our Matte Lava Clay in the same way as the Styling Funk. Once the product is thoroughly placed throughout the hair, get out the comb again and run it through a few times to really create those Ronaldo textured lines.

Haircut 2: High Fade with Curls

To achieve this second look, ask your barber for some tapered sides and back with a high fade, about an inch from the main body of hair.

These statement curls are au-naturale for this footballer, making this the perfect hairstyle for you curly haired fellas! It’s time to embrace your curls. If Ronaldo can do it, so can you.

If your hair is straight don’t worry about being left out. Just ask your barber for a high fade without the curls. Easy-peasy.

    • To style your new curls and get that Ronaldo wet look, start off with damp hair and apply some Styling Funk from root to tip as a pre-styler. This product is great for curly hair as it is made with nourishing oils like Argan Oil, Coconut Oil and Olive Oil. These ingredients are key to locking in moisture and fighting off frizz and giving off that smooth silky look.
    • Next you need our Matte Lava Clay to complete it all. As in the previous instructions, put a small amount of product in your hands and warm well. Then apply to the hair pushing it back and up off the face for that extra firm hold.
    • Then all you need to do is pick a single messy curl or strand of straight hair and allow it to fall forward.

Finally, give it some hairdryer treatment, and admire how good you look. You’ve now got your hair over the line, just like Ronaldo.
