    by Zheelana Cottam

It is an undeniable fact that Olivier Giroud is one of the best-looking players on any pitch. The French striker was even voted the Premier League's “Hottest” Player back when he used to play for Arsenal FC. Times have changed and Giroud is now playing for AC Milan but one thing that hasn’t changed is he still looks fiiiine whilst doing so. It’s hardly surprising since the Frenchman admits to basing his style off of former football pro and fashion icon David Beckham. Giroud takes pride in how he looks and has commented in interviews about how he likes to look good and has a ritual of taking care of his hair and his skin, especially when it comes to match days.

“I bring my own grooming kit to the game… moisturiser, gel and shampoo - I like to take care of myself… football players like to take care of themselves.” - Olivier Giroud

So, we have put together a style guide for you funky fellas that like to keep things fresh and look as good as Giroud by breaking down his best haircut. You know the one we’re talking about. The 2018 World Cup haircut that boosted Giroud into the style icon that he is known to be today.

When you head to your barber looking to create this Olivier Giroud haircut, ask for a disconnected pompadour with a drop fade. Disconnected means you will want one side of the hair to have a disconnect and the other side to be blended in. Aim for 3-5 inches for the top hair and then slowly taper it shorter towards the back. When it comes to the fade the sides will be shorter starting around a #1 and dropping down into a heavier length through the back with a #2. (Show the picture below for reference to the fade). Don’t forget to neaten everything up and blend in your beard in that true Ground fashion.

    To style:

    • Start on clean, towel dried hair. To create that high shine you will need some hair wax. Scoop up a pea-sized amount of our Styling Funk and warm the product well between your fingertips. Apply product thoroughly to the hair starting back to front and root to tip.
    • Now grab your hair dryer and comb. Set your dryer to a medium heat and blow dry the hair front to back. At the same time use your comb to direct the hair and to create those textured lines that Giroud loves so much.
    • For a little extra hold scoop some of our Matte Lava Clay and apply it to the front and sides of the hair. This will give your hair the longevity it will need to hold this style all day long.
    • Finally grab your hairdryer once more and put it on its coldest setting. Give your hair a quick blast to set everything in place and you’re good to go!

Enjoy looking like the hottest player in the league!
