How To Get The Timothee Chalamet Haircut From Dune 2021

    by Zheelana Cottam

Timothee Chalamet, 25, stepped into the limelight in 2017 with his incredible performance as Elio in Call Me By Your Name and the world has been obsessed with him since. Since then he has graced our TVs with his presence in the Netflix original series The King (2019) as well as successful productions such as Ladybird (2017), Little Women (2019) and, more recently, the modern recreation of the Frank Herbert novel Dune (2021). Not only is Chalamet an outstanding actor with impeccable fashion sense and bone structure that was clearly gifted from the gods, but he also has an incredible head of hair.

Whilst we can’t all be award winning actors with cheekbones that could cut glass, we can give you the secrets to recreating the infamous Timothee Chalamet  haircut and style.

When it comes to recreating this cut, it’s probably best to step out of your comfort zone and hit up a unisex salon instead of your usual barber. You’ll want someone who is comfortable working with medium to long length hair to achieve this stylish mop. It may also help to show your stylist a picture of Timothee Chalamet’s hairstyle so they can get a good idea of what look you're trying to recreate.

Ask your stylist to make your hair look like a “non-haircut”, as the professionals call it. This can be achieved by point-cutting into the ends of the hair with scissors instead of cutting it straight across, so the ends don’t come out blunt. Keep your hair medium-long in length, so it sits just above the collar, and put in some long layers. It is important to keep the cut shaggy around the sides and hairline to help create volume if you don’t naturally have it. Then put in a soft side parting with your hair pushed back off your face and the haircut is complete.

This is the perfect long haircut for that Funky Fella with a thick, textured hair type with soft waves or heavy curls.

If you have naturally thick hair and curly hair…

    • Styling this hair starts in the shower. Use our Fig Barbary Natural Shampoo to wash the roots of your hair. This product is sulphate-free meaning it will stop the moisture being stripped from your hair. No moisture = a curly haired fellas worst enemy.
    • Let your curls dry naturally to achieve the best look. If you start tackling your hair with a hairdryer and brush then you’re going to ruin the definition of the curls and potentially create A LOT of frizz.
    • Once your hair is 70% dry apply a pea-sized amount of our Funky Flex Cream to give your hair a firm but flexible hold, so you are able to re-shape it thought the day as well as adding a subtle, natural looking shine. Hair cream, also known as styling cream, is light so works perfectly with these longer hairstyles as it doesn’t weigh the hair down. It will also tame those flyway’s without your hair looking greasy.
    • Make sure to create that side parting and comb your hair through with your fingers. To create some extra volume, you can scrunch up the ends.

If you have naturally straight hair...

    • The beginning of this hairstyle also starts in the shower. Make sure to wash and condition your hair to help you have a clean canvas to work with. Apply a small amount of our Natural Fig Barbary Shampoo and gently lather into your wet hair from root to tip.
    • Hop out of the shower and gently towel dry your hair until it is damp but not dripping. The same as before adding a small amount of Funky Flex Cream and warm the product up between your fingers. Apply it throughout the hair, making sure to scrunch up the hair as you go. This will help create texture and give you that curly definition.
    • Use the hairdryer on a medium heat to help give your hair some volume and then using whatever product is left on your hands create a side parting and brush your hair back from your face.
