How To Get Through Freshers & Your First Week of University

    by Sal Essa

You’re finally ready to leave the nest and on your way to live a few of the most memorable years of your life. Fresher’s is where you’ll meet many of your friends and have a great time partying every night, however it’s essential that you take of yourself and your body during this time. Here are a few handy tips worth keeping in mind.

    1. Diet
Often university students feel its okay to live off fatty takeaways and ready meals however the affects that this has on your health including your skin is detrimental. It is important to keep a healthy diet, for example by meal prepping however this isn’t always easy during fresher’s so at least get some fruit and vegetables into your system in between consuming all that alcohol.

    2. Hydrated
With all the parties and clubs you’ll be inevitably going to, the level of alcohol you’ll be drinking will probably be more than your body is used to. Try and keep hydrated throughout the day and especially after your hangovers to help you bounce back. Your skin will thank you too and you’ll be your most confident self when meeting new people.

    3. Personal Hygiene
Don’t forget to be looking, feeling and smelling your best during fresher’s as first impressions are everything. With all the late nights, you may find it difficult to keep up with your personal hygiene habits however set aside a bit more time in the mornings to shower, floss, shave and style your hair with our Styling Funk and Matte Lava Clay quickly & conveniently so that you don’t look like you’ve just got out of bed. Preparing yourself to look presentable allows you to value yourself and feel more confident. It is likely that you’ll end up paying attention more in lectures too because you’re already in a state of mind to tackle the day.

    4. Face Masks
Your skin will be going through a lot in these few weeks because of the change in diet, lack of water and excess of alcohol. Once or twice a week, try and slick a facemask on to keep your skin looking refreshed and glowing. We recommend NO GUNK Lava Clay Face Mask for exfoliating skin detox.

    5. Sleep
Sleep, sleep, sleep! Get early nights on days you’re not going out to give your body some much-needed rest and to keep you alert whilst in your lectures. Sleep helps to protect your mental and physical health and supports healthy brain function. You'll also get a little more sleep knowing that you don't need to wash our hair products out after a night out (they don't damage hair - they only give nourishment! :D
